Leave No Paws Behind Summer Updates

Hi everyone! Here is hoping you've found a way to keep cool this summer. We are in the middle of a heat wave here in California, which seems like it starts in January and lasts until October these days 😃. We have a lot of news to share with you, and thought the blog would be a great way to do it!

First up, we are looking for a foster. Mocha came to us after she was hit by a car and suffered a broken pelvis. She had surgery to repair it and is now healed. She is healed from her injury and has had all her physical restrictions removed. She is ready for adoption, and is looking for a home she can  call her own. Mocha is a black lab mix, loves people, is good with other dogs, and would love to go on walks and hikes with her very own family. If you are interested in adopting Mocha, please email info@leavenopawsbehind.com.

Next up, it is summer time. For most of us, that means higher temperatures, and special cautions that needs to be taken with our pets. For some great tips and advice, please read this post we did earlier this summer: Summer Time Safety

My guess is the majority of people reading this post are animal lovers and most likely share your home with at least 1 member of the animal kingdom. But do you know all the different ways they improve our lives? Here are just a few ways that animals make our lives better: The Health Benefits of Living With Pets

We also have a new t-shirt campaign going on for a summer fundraiser. Grabbing a t-shirt is a great way to share your love for LNPB and help us continue to help all our current and future rescues. We are using a new company, and they have a few new items you can order with our logo on it. Go check out the new shirts here: LNPB T-Shirts

And last but not least, we are extremely excited and proud to announce a new program for Leave No Paws Behind. The new program is called "A New Leash On Life". Inspired by my very own rescue dog Major, who has saved and enriched my life in so many ways (More about Major here). This new program will focus on rescuing younger adult dogs from high kill shelters in the Southern California area, dogs that are active breeds (Labs, shepherds, huskies, GSP's etc) and place them in temporary foster homes, where we will start them in basic obedience training and introduce them to outdoor activities like hiking and trail running. We will seek to have them adopted by active homes looking to share their adventures with a dog. We plan on having our first dog in the program in early August. This will be a very hands on foster program, as these dogs will be getting training while they are in foster, so we are looking for a couple of active dog savvy fosters in the San Gabriel valley. If you are interested in being a foster for this new program, please email info@leavnopawsbehind.com and mention New Leash On Life Foster in the subject line. The hope is that this new program will also begin to build a community of people and their dogs that will participate in group activities like hiking, trail running, and camping. Leave No Paws Behind is and always will be a senior, medical needs, and hospice/end of life based rescue. This new program will be small in scope, but it's heart is based in the love I have of sharing my adventures with my dogs.

I think that is about it for now. Please keep yourself and your pets cool and safe in the summer heat! We can't do this without your help. To donate, please go to www.leavenopawsbehind.org/donate
